Both of these were painted using only French Ultramarine, Burnt Umber, & Titanium White. One of the images is a scan, and the other is from a photo after the cut. I might update the first image, above, later with one that looks a little smoother. I love both of these girls. I'm glad others out there did too.

This is Sam. An individual who resides in Secret Island. A place outside of regular society where those who wish to frolic as they please, may do so. Where no one is judged, and no is watching what anyone is doing, where one may seek adventure with fellow humans or to find peace in solitude amongst the green of nature, and of love, life, and of creatures and wanderers.

Honey Bear

Honey Bear, originally named Bear Masked, is about a timid girl who is trying to be fearless. She is encouraged to do so by wearing her favorite head gear. It allows her to feel hidden while at the same time being out there, where she fears to be, but, she decides its worth the risk.

I've been trying to see my work from an outside perspective recently.. lol, & what I see is a set of really ..kind of intense, sad paintings.. or of sad things. I think its just that those are the types of feelings I need to get out. But this is only a part of me, it isn't alll of me. :)

sorry about the slight glare. I took this on my way out the door, to blog from my phone! This painting is for the bear themed show I'm doing in August. Tons more paintings to go!

I haven't worked on it in a while, I've been spending all my painting time on paintings for shows coming up!

I began this little painting a while ago, its now all entirely finished. the lighting that came in the window at this particular time, kindof called for a picture, it seemed like good natural lighting.

in progress, current stage: looking up references for what i want to do with her eyes..

im excited about this painting, im working on it using a slightly different painting technique. using walnut oil as a medium instead of turpenoid, which i just realized leaves me painting in a more watery consistency.
I will do glazes on her later for color. i hope that goes well, i dont know how to do it properly. still excited!

Discomfort With Finding Yourself

This is a painting about, well..what the title suggests. The egg represents hope for an answer, in finding comfort in oneself. Hope that you will eventually feel okay in your own skin. I was feeling really off when I sketched this idea out, and it felt good to draw a girl that only felt comfortable if her nose was hidden., better a cone than a hideous (to her) nose.
